The Ivy Dental Practice, as it is known now, has been established for over 75 years. In 2003 the Practice was taken over by Dr Newsome. We pride ourselves on being a friendly family practice, delivering the best in patient care.
Dr Malc Newsome BDS qualified from the Univeristy of Bristol in 1998, he has worked both in general practice and as a clinical assistant at Fairfield Hospital in the Oral & Maxillo-Facial Department. He has completed numerous post-graduate courses in implant dentistry, clinical hypnosis and non-surgical facial aesthetics. He is currently working towards a Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Dr Mahfuza Mannan BDS qualified from the University of Manchester in 1999, she has worked within both NHS and private dentistry, including working as a Clinical Assistant in Orthodontics at Heaton Mersey Orthodontic Centre. Mahfuza has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics and has completed courses in dermal fillers and botulinum toxin treatment. Dr Zohaib Ali BDS qualified from Trinity College, Dublin with awards in dental materials and oral medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons. He has worked in both private and public healthcare settings and gained experience in all aspects of dentistry. Zohaib is currently widening his clinical skills to include orthodontics and more advanced restorative work whilst also pursuing FDS membership from the Royal College.
We have a hygienist working at the Practice, Becky Cayton. Dental hygienists specialise in cleaning teeth, removing staining & maintenance of gum disease.
All our practice staff are registered with the General Dental Council. Rachel Newsome is, alongside Malc Newsome, a Director at the Practice. Rachel deals with the overall running of the Practice. Amanda Palmer is our Practice Manager and deals with the day to day management. Adele Gow and Heather Lighfoot both hold certificates in first aid. Alex Barron has just completed her Dental Nurse training at the Manchester Dental Hospial and Leah Patrick is our new Dental Nurse cadet.
